Drug classification is Domain 1 material and among the most predictable points on the PTCE: if you can place a drug in its class, you can usually reason your way to its indication, its common side effects, and its major interactions. This quiz drills that single skill across the classes that dominate US dispensing.

The fastest route to class recognition is the generic-name suffix. Once you know that -statin means an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor and -pril means an ACE inhibitor, an unfamiliar drug name stops being a dead end. Every answer here is cited so you can confirm the class and its logic.

Know the exceptions

Not every drug wears its class on its sleeve. Carvedilol is a beta blocker without the -olol giveaway if you don't know it; metformin, warfarin, and clopidogrel each need to be memorized outright. Build a short list of the class members that break the suffix rules.
